Clean energy and the education around it
Young people are custodians of the future.
If we're to resolve the climate crisis, the leaders of tomorrow need to know what the best solutions look like, and be equipped with the right skills to implement them.
Solar for Schools was set up with the aim of educating the next generation on energy and decarbonisation. Putting solar panels on school rooftops, and then using that solar - and the revenue from it - to enable that education, is the purpose behind Solar for Schools.
Through our student-centred education, we're not just teaching facts; we're cultivating a mindset.
While the move to clean energy is an obvious step in the right direction, education is a key element to bring about vital changes in society. Solar for Schools provides the opportunity to do both: clean energy and the education around it.
In a relevant and tangible way, we make energy transition a reality to school children and students, in all Key Stages.
Using real solar panel systems as a tool, our materials enable action-based learning about energy, environment, regeneration and decarbonisation in the classroom and through independent learning.
Any school with or without solar panels can join our education programme.
We want the citizens of tomorrow to be equipped with a solid understanding on sustainable climate adaptation through a focus on STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths).
Our vision is that carrying this knowledge into adulthood will lead to greater action on local and global issues, and will ultimately foster responsible custodians of the planet, and our future.
For schools interested in going solar, we can help you achieve this from start to finish.
Taking care of the design, project development, installation, and the operations and maintenance for the lifecycle of the system (25 years), we can even organise the project funding through the Solar for Schools Community Benefits Society or help you to access grants.
No project is the same and we take a bespoke approach with each school, depending on its priorities, budgets and goals.
